Today\u2019s decline is considered \u2018normal\u2019 within the larger pattern. However, the island top that developed needs to be watched closely for a competing bearish pattern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Current Elliott Wave Analysis<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our Elliott wave analysis of the Nasdaq 100 (USTec) chart shows the rally from the July 2026 low is shaping an <a href=\"https:\/\/alchemymarkets.com\/education\/guides\/elliott-wave-theory\/\">Elliott wave impulse<\/a> pattern.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"568\" src=\"https:\/\/alchemymarkets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-56-1024x568.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34347\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alchemymarkets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-56-1024x568.png 1024w, https:\/\/alchemymarkets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-56-300x166.png 300w, https:\/\/alchemymarkets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-56-768x426.png 768w, https:\/\/alchemymarkets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-56.png 1521w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Impulses include 5-subwaves, in this case labeled (i)-(ii)-(iii)-(iv)-(v). It appears USTEC is in the middle of wave (iii).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If this model is correct, then USTEC may rally to 32,350 and possibly 34,500 where common wave relationships sit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wave iii of (iii) is the 100% <a href=\"https:\/\/alchemymarkets.com\/education\/indicators\/fibonacci-extensions\/\">Fibonacci extension<\/a> of wave i of (iii) at 32,350.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wave (iii) is the 161.8% Fibonacci extension of wave (i) at 34,500.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is a bearish pattern that I\u2019m keeping my eye on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/alchemymarkets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-55-1024x640.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34343\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alchemymarkets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-55-1024x640.png 1024w, https:\/\/alchemymarkets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-55-300x188.png 300w, https:\/\/alchemymarkets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-55-768x480.png 768w, https:\/\/alchemymarkets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/image-55.png 1521w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the cash version of Nasdaq (NDQ), there is an island top pattern on the daily chart. This is a pattern that can appear at the end of strong trends. Prices gap higher to fool traders into thinking this trend is continuing higher. Then it gaps lower leaving behind an island that is not connected to the mainland.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For NDQ, prices gapped open on Tuesday and did not fill the gap. The next day, today, NDQ gapped lower casting away from the previous day leaving behind what looks like an island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Island Top pattern is not really common and is a bearish pattern. However, NDQ can rally to fill the downside gap. IF NDQ rallies to 31,225 to fill the gap, then the pattern would void its signal and suggest the bullish Elliott wave pattern noted above is on track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If NDQ fails to fill the gap and if USTEC falls below <a href=\"https:\/\/alchemymarkets.com\/education\/guides\/support-and-resistance\/\">horizontal support<\/a> at 30,745, then it will set off a series of lower lows hinting at a bearish reversal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Bottom Line<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The structure of the rally from July appears to be incomplete and may push up to 32,350.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Failure to fill the downside gap in NDQ (31,225) and if USTEC breaks below 30,745 would suggest a bigger top is at hand followed by a large correction.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Elliott Wave analysis of the Nasdaq 100 (USTEC) points to an incomplete impulse pattern.
