A flat subdivides as 3-3-5 waves and is labeled ((a))-((b))-((c)).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The decline from mid-June appears to be wave ((c)).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We know from our <a href=\"https:\/\/alchemymarkets.com\/education\/guides\/elliott-wave-theory\/\">Elliott wave<\/a> studies that C-waves in flats are motive patterns that subdivide into five waves. The current decline appears to be in the early stages of wave (iii) of the five-wave decline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wave (iii) reaches the <a href=\"https:\/\/alchemymarkets.com\/education\/indicators\/fibonacci-extensions\/\">1.618 Fibonacci extension<\/a> of wave (i)\u2026a common relationship\u2026if gold decline to around<strong> $3,218<\/strong>.&nbsp; Even further declines to <strong>$3,120<\/strong> are possible under the <strong>flat pattern<\/strong> that began in April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If gold were to rally above the wave (ii) high of <strong>$3,393<\/strong>, then we\u2019ll be forced to reconsider this wave count.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is an alternate count under consideration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"746\" src=\"https:\/\/alchemymarkets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/XAUUSD_2025-06-26_16-39-34-1024x746.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13515\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alchemymarkets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/XAUUSD_2025-06-26_16-39-34-1024x746.png 1024w, https:\/\/alchemymarkets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/XAUUSD_2025-06-26_16-39-34-300x218.png 300w, https:\/\/alchemymarkets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/XAUUSD_2025-06-26_16-39-34-768x559.png 768w, https:\/\/alchemymarkets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/XAUUSD_2025-06-26_16-39-34.png 1173w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This would suggest the rally from May to June was a <strong>leading diagonal<\/strong>. The decline from early June is wave (ii). Wave (ii) could decline to <strong>$3,189 &#8211; $3,244<\/strong>. Those two figures are a result of the 61% and 78% <a href=\"https:\/\/alchemymarkets.com\/education\/indicators\/fibonacci-retracement\/\">Fibonacci retracement<\/a> of wave (i).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bottom Line<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Gold appears to be in the early stages of a small degree 3rd wave lower. If this wave pattern is correct, then gold would decline to <strong>$3,220<\/strong> and possibly to <strong>$3,120<\/strong> while a rally above <strong>$3,393<\/strong> negates the bearish count.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the alternate scenario, a decline to <strong>$3,189 &#8211; $3,244<\/strong> is higher probability.
